4:00pm, Thu 09 Apr 2009 :  Vanessa and Romana
Wedged in the middle of a run of German Couchsurfers, Vanessa and Romana stepped aboard just as the last guys where getting off. This worked rather nicely as a grand lunch was made while everyone made their plans.

The weather had closed in a bit as a typical Easter weather pattern started to roll in. We we headed ot save as houses Stonehaven first up, where we had a rather unsettled night as the winds built.

Early in the morning, we went for a snorkel. The tide height allowed snorkelling off the beach, but the water just a tad too deep to really get the full show.... and the murky skies above provided no assist in the lighting department.

We tooled down to Cid harbour and went for a walk, not before a "jazzed" Ross 780 toddled past. It was none other than Rod and Cherie Caldwell, complete with daughter. They were soon rafted alongside for some snags in bread and choc eggs for the girls.

The walk was pleasant the girls remarking that I should be a guide. Shame about all the red tape that puts charter / island tours out of read of small business. Not to worry, I prefer to do it just for friends and free!

To make the day more complete, we busted out of Cid Harbour for an overnight berth at Hamo. We nudged into an A berth right on Front Street and only a short walk to Cumberland Princess, which had my mate of old John Bernal, wife Kelly and others on board. We joined them for drinks and later after dinner for birthday cake as John marked his 50th! John is actually one of my longest term friends. He was there when I bought my Noelex 25 to Hamo Race Week in 97! I also worked downstairs from his Mexican restaurant Dos Amigos during my 2nd year in the computer industry. We would knock off and play F-19. Then the pinnacle of flight sims on a 386 computer ! Then it would be upstairs for a Burrito, Chimmy, or other delight (don't even mention the Jose Cuervo shots!).

Anyway, it was great to mark his 50th. We were much younger then... 1991 we thought.

Next morning, we set off for a tour of the island. John loaned us their buggy and off we went ... Front Street, One tree, the resort, the airport. We also checked out the Blue Pearl house for the best job in the world. Un-assuming it appears, it will soon be one of the focal points for the world as the Island Caretaker takes up their post for 6 months over hill and dale, island and reef in a quest to get the world to come and visit.

Glad I got to see before most of the rest....

The adventure continues.

Quote from Ghandi
I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the culture of all lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible.

Pretty much my life... and I love it.

Next G Coverage
Telstra Next G coverage continues to impress. Using my Tu500 handset, I have been able to get on the net at high speed at various places. The latency of the network also seems very low when I get on. Very nice.

John speaks about Telstra Next G

Says it all : "Sailing" by Christopher Cross
It's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

It's not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

Sailing
Takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

Fantasy
It gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me

It's not far back to sanity
At least it's not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me
